Some Days You’ll Have Days Like These

A tale that navigates everyday ups and downs with a generous sprinkling of hope and happiness.

Josh Pyke‘s stories call for me to have illustrator fun. My own works can be reflective and elemental, but Josh‘s stories ask for colour and a liveliness that calls for a different visual language. I love them for that.

It took me a while to balance ideas for this book, but it all came together once I imagined curtains closing and opening and a stage with characters engaging with handmade sets.

This year my head has been storing too many problems and I, me and myself needed to speak to someone to clean some of the old mess out. I can see that the new book of Josh’s is a beautiful way for parents to navigate their adult issues and share feelings with their children and visa- versa, which will help everyone grow into empathy and understanding.

I’m super stoked to be working with Josh Pyke as I feel my family and I know the lyrics to nearly all his earliest works. He has always had a child centric mind.
