King's illustrations are quirky and wonderfully expressive, particularly the 'sound' section where you can really imagine the noises in your head - the ting of a triangle, the low, windy boom of a tuba - which seem to leap off the page. It's also a very nicely packaged book, with its matte cover, its thick pages, its gently coloured watercolour illustrations, and a delectable daisy patch decorating the inside front and back covers. A classic bedtime read for toddlers and up.
